Cotton prices are slowly moving upwards in India

  • Cotton prices are slowly moving upwards in India. Crop arrival closed. Ginning work mostly closed.
  •  This year monsoon in India is expected to be uncertain and irritant. Next crop prospects may not be very bright.
  •  Power cost, government taxes such as Service Tax, General inflationary increase in wages has happened like any routine year. 
  • Indian Currency is strong and it is not depleting.
  • Government of India has reduced / withdrawn significant subsidies to Textile Exporters and to great extent for other exporters as well. WTO has asked to make exporter’s subsidy as Zero as soon as possible, latest by 2018.
  • Nobody can sell yarn as India can quality wise and competition wise. Indian spinners are running their mills into losses as they are not paid fair prices.
  • Many mills are closing down and many more are to close down in near future. Bankers are not funding new mills.
