According to the cotton yarn markets and weaving enterprises in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangdong and Fujian, although the ICE cotton futures/Zhengzhou cotton have oscillated and dropped significantly since late September, except that Indian compact spinning and carded yarn outer/inner quotations experienced a short-term sharp drop, the prices of scheduled and port spot of Vietnam OE yarn, Uzbekistan cotton yarn, Pakistan 8S-16S Siro spinning yarn only decreased slightly or stabilized at a high level. The “paper” profits of spinning mills and traders further improved, but the transaction and shipment of imported cotton yarn did not improve much with the arrival of “golden September and silver October, and the market performance was still relatively weak.

A light textile import and export company in Hangzhou said that in September, the operation rate of weaving/clothing enterprises in costal regions has increased (the operation rate of some large and middle-sized enterprises has recovered to 75-80%), RMB exchange rate has depreciated sharply and domestic cotton yarn market has not risen with Zhengzhou cotton. In addition, energy supply shortage in Pakistan due to the flood and the proportion of production reduction and suspension of cotton mills in South India have caused a delay of shipping schedule. Exporters and cotton traders are not eager to follow the trend of ICE and Zhengzhou cotton to sell goods at lower prices, showing strong resistance to decline.

A large weaving enterprise in Shaoxing said that although ICE futures main force contract has fallen sharply, the upside down of domestic and foreign cotton prices have significantly narrowed from July/August (import under 1% tariff), while the upside down of cotton yarn from India and Vietnam and domestic cotton is still above 4,500 Yuan/ton, so if they receive middle and long export traceable orders, the profit of purchasing foreign cotton for spinning yarn, weaving cloth and finished clothes is still high. However, current they focus on exporting small orders, short orders and urgent orders (southeast Asian and south Asian traders re-export Europe and American orders also arrived in stages), so to meet the deadline and not delay the delivery, they can only directly purchase high-priced cotton yarn, but the stability of yarn supply and consistency of indicators are affected, so they need to be very cautious when receiving high-count and high-added value foreign orders.
